No se recomienda drenar los tanques de combustible para el almacenamiento en invierno porque los tanques parcialmente llenos condensarán más agua y se corroerán internamente. Además, un tanque vacío es más peligroso debido a los vapores explosivos que quedan en el tanque.
LA GUARDIA COSTERA DE EE. UU. RECOMIENDA
La Guardia Costera de EE.UU., en su boletín sobre la preparación para el invierno de embarcaciones de recreo, recomienda que "los tanques instalados deben llenarse con combustible y añadirse un estabilizador de combustible".
¿POR QUÉ UN ESTABILIZADOR?
Durante el almacenamiento la gasolina "se descompone". La oxidación se produce creando una goma semifluida que produce depósitos de resina dura en todas las superficies de admisión que pueden obstruir los carburadores. El estabilizador STOR-N-START contiene un potente antioxidante, desgomantes, inhibidores y desactivadores de metales. Mantiene la gasolina y el combustible diésel frescos en la refinería. NO contiene alcohol ni metanol. También ayuda a prevenir la pérdida de octanaje durante el almacenamiento.
